    Flight over Europe July 2022

    At 70

    Waking to the day
    A bittersweet combo.
    Joy, Thankfulness, and Pain.

    The rhythm of life, routine.
    Reading, writing, and arithmetic.
    Traveling backward to grade school
After reaching the heights of aged wisdom.

Routine, the center of this universe.
Coffee, clink the cups, feed the cat.
Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and a night cap.
    Clink the glass.

Around and around, days into weeks.
Month marching into month with only
    One END in sight.

Darkness of night. No rest for the weary.
Just random thoughts orbiting black space.
Gravity of a heartbeat counting down,
And the roar of the sea in the night-time quiet.

When three-quarter of the pie has been eaten,
there’s not much left to feed a new world.
    Every moment lives in “Be-Here-Now”.

    With morning comes sleep.
The gentle light beckoning a new day, with hope of change.
All the while, spinning in the orbit of time.
